Pastor Mark & Colleen Berry
One evening, 30 years ago, while at home in Houston, Mark got a call from some friends Howard and Patricia Nason, the Founders of Bread Basket Ministries in Fort Worth. They were ready to retire but wanted to see Bread Basket live on and they believed Mark was the man for the Job.
After a trip to Fort Worth and much prayer Mark and his first wife Linda (who passed away) believed this was God’s plan for his life. So they relocated to Fort Worth, and with a pickup truck, a dolly, and 501-C-3, Mark became the senior pastor and Executive Director of Bread Basket Ministries.
30 years later Bread Basket Ministries is now housed in an 8000 sq ft facility, and with the help of many amazing volunteers and donors, has served thousands of families, providing both food for the body and nourishment for the soul.
In 2020 Mark and Colleen met through some mutual friends and were married. With her passion for people and ministry Colleen joined Mark and the Bread Basket family. Colleen and Mark serves as Co- Executive Directors and pastor the sweet people of Bread Basket Ministries.
Because we know the value of nourishing both the body and the soul, Bread Basket offers a time of ministry, sharing the Good News about the renewing life, love, and hope available through faith in the Lord. Pastor Mark Berry ministers to our English speaking clients and Pastor David Hardy shares a time of worship and teaching with our Spanish speaking client.
Bread Basket is a bountiful blend of Food Pantry and Faith Center. This allows us to nourish both the body and the soul. Jesus taught in the Bible that, “man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God”. Our ministry is a direct response to Jesus’ desire for His church to take care of widows and orphans and show compassion on those in need.
Food for Thought Services are optional and not mandatory to receive assistance from Bread Basket. Should you opt out for the Food for Thought Service, please make you request known to our Client Service Assistant and special arrangements will be made for you.
It is because of our faithful donors that we say that Bread Basket Ministries is a 38+ year miracle. Without the generosity and support of our donors, community grants, and faithful clients BBM would not be possible. So it is that we insure every donation is used wisely and respectfully. Each dollar donated can buy roughly 8 to 15 lbs of food that will feed people in need.
